WhatsApp Backup

A WhatsApp backup is a copy of your WhatsApp messages, media, and data that is saved to a secure location, such as Google Drive or your phone’s internal storage. This allows you to restore your WhatsApp data if you switch to a new phone or if your phone is lost, stolen, or reset.

Types of WhatsApp Backup

1. Google Drive Backup

  • Automatically backs up your WhatsApp data to Google Drive
  • Requires a Google account and Google Play services
  • Backup frequency can be set to daily, weekly, or monthly

2. Local Backup

  • Saves WhatsApp data to your phone’s internal storage
  • Can be manually backed up or set to automatic backup
  • May not be accessible if your phone is lost or reset

How to Backup WhatsApp

1. Google Drive Backup

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings
  2. Select Chats and then Chat Backup
  3. Tap on Google Drive Settings and select your Google account
  4. Choose your backup frequency and tap on Save

2. Local Backup

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings
  2. Select Chats and then Chat Backup
  3. Tap on Back Up to save your data to your phone’s internal storage

How to Restore WhatsApp Backup

1. Google Drive Backup

  1. Install WhatsApp on your new phone
  2. Verify your phone number and select Restore when prompted
  3. Select Google Drive and sign in with your Google account
  4. Choose the backup you want to restore and tap on Restore

2. Local Backup

  1. Install WhatsApp on your new phone
  2. Verify your phone number and select Restore when prompted
  3. Select Local Backup and select the backup file you want to restore
  4. Tap on Restore to restore your WhatsApp data
